It was born from the question, "Do panda-style watch dials really resemble pandas?". Rather than using the nickname purely as a colour convention (white dial with black sub-dials), Seiko re-examined the recognizable traits of an actual panda to create a design specifically for panda lovers. This exercise has resulted in two versions being launched — the HHK001, featuring a classic black-and-white dial inspired from by an adult panda, and the HHK002, featuring a pink dial inspired from a newborn baby panda around one month after birth. HHK001 is limited to 3000 pieces, while HHK002 to 2000 pieces. These new watches are inspired by one of seven concept timepieces unveiled at the 2024 Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition, which challenged designers to create watches for highly specific audiences.

Encased in 43 mm steel cases, the dials of both versions feature an embossed radial pattern evoking panda fur. The sub-dials are shaped like droopy eyes, with nose and mouth elements at 6 o'clock to create a panda face. The ‘Pandagraph’ text created the panda’s smile in 2024 model, the latest models eschew the text. The hour and minute hands are custom-shaped like bamboo leaves. There is a tachymeter scale around the outer edge, renamed the SASAMETER ('sasa' being Japanese for 'bamboo leaves'), along with a traditional inner scale. The scale is calibrated so that if a panda runs at full speed for two minutes, it indicates 30 km/h (a panda's theoretical top speed).
Outside the case, two recessed pushers are positioned at 11 and 1 o’clock, resembling panda's ears that operate the chronograph function. Both the models are powered by a quartz movement equipped with small seconds hand and chronograph up to 60 minutes in 1/5 second increments.
On the caseback, there is an engraving of a panda's rear view showing a white tail, reflecting true panda anatomy rather than the misconception of a black tail, accompanied by the inscription "LIMITED EDITION". The watches are delivered in special boxes, the HHK001’s box is designed around the image of a panda rolling around and lounging on grass, and the HHK002’s box is finished in a pink hue with an interior lined in soft, fluffy material to evoke the delicate downy fur of a young panda. Both models are priced at ₹52,000 (approx.)
