With a determination to re-appropriate time and keep it on our side, Audemars releases the 17th century inspired single-hand timepiece – the Millenary Frosted Gold Philosophique. A wake-up call to women all over the world, the timepiece signifies “a statement of creative freedom and free-spirited individuality” along with a defiance of the fast-paced life that many of us are subjected to today.
Since the launch of the first hand-wound “Philosophique” watch in 1982, Audemars Piguet has continued to remind us that “watches had been, and continue to be, worn first and foremost as emotional markers.” Not much has changed since then. The 2019 Millenary Frosted Gold Philosophique brings home this philosophy with a 39mm, 18-carat pink or white gold case that is decorated with alternating satin brushing and Frosted gold finishing - a technique that was first introduced by the Florentine jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. This diamond-dust effect works beautifully against the hand-polished bevels on the case and the lugs.
Keeping in tune with the long-standing tradition of crafting mechanical timepieces for women, the watch is powered by a new self-winding movement calibre 3140. This movement features a a patented mechanism that ticks the hand around in an elliptical trajectory. The see-through caseback ensures a clear view of the movement working within while also staying water-resistant to 20m. The blue and brown “hammered-like” dial works perfectly with the polished and sand-blasted 18-carat white and pink gold hands.
Strapped to a brown or blue alligator strap, the all-new Audermars Piguet Millenary Frosted Gold Philosophique is a favourite this season!
