Homegrown watch brand Titan will celebrate 40 years of its establishment next year, and in the lead-up to the milestone, the brand has launched its new collection of watches inspired by the stars. The occasion was graced by the ‘First Indian in Space’, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, whose space mission, the Soviet Interkosmos programme, also celebrates 40 years next year.
The collection was launched at the Titan Corporate Office - Integrity, Electronic City, Bangalore. Titan’s CEO (Watches and Wearables Division), Ms. Suparna Mitra and Chief Design Officer Ms. Revathi Kant introduced and gave details on the idea and design of the new Stellar Collection. WatchTime India took the opportunity to invite watch enthusiasts to the event to experience the watch up close.
The eleven timepieces in the Stellar collection take inspiration from a protostar (birth of a star), the supernova (disintegration of the star), and the black hole (afterlife of a star), the design cues from which can be found in the dials and cases. Three of the timepieces are limited editions, two of which have dials crafted from Aventurine and Malachite, rare earth minerals, and the third has the dial crafted from Muonionalusta, an iron-based meteorite - the watches are powered by Titan’s in-house automatic calibre. The timepieces are priced ₹9,795 onwards, up to ₹1,20,000 for the Titan Meteorite.
The event was attended by watch enthusiasts from and around the city who enjoyed the Stellar watches as well as interacting with Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma in an informal setting.
