Geneva Watch Days 2024: A moonphase shines big and bright in the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold

The moonphase indicator in the new Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold offers accuracy for about 122 years
Arnold & Son introduces the new Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold in two limited-edition versions featuring dials in blue aventurine glass and a warm sunray-brushed grey. With 88 pieces in blue aventurine glass and 28 in grey, the watch features a large moonphase, telling a story of night with a grey cliff, iridescent white moon, and a blue-black starry sky.

The new dials are presented in a 38mm 18K red gold (5N) case, designed with precision for the A&S1612 calibre. The bezel, lugs, and the crown are polished. The blue aventurine dial is speckled with metallic particles, reminiscent of stars or constellations, while the cliff grey dial features a moiré effect beneath a grained matte midnight blue sky.

Both editions highlight a large moonphase with a mother-of-pearl disc replicating the moon in an aperture spanning 10 to 2 o’clock, and designed with constellations like Cassiopeia and Ursa Major. The moon and the stars are all illuminated by Super-LumiNova and brought to life by hand-painted details. The moonphase complication is accurate for about 122 years, and offers precision for more than a century to lag behind a day in relation to the real moon.

The A&S1612 calibre, a 30mm hand-wound movement designed for this model, is the brand’s smallest so far, and offers a 90-hour power reserve. It is decorated with radiating Côtes de Genève stripes and circular satin finishing with blued and chamfered screws and polished heads.

The watch is presented with hand-stitched ink blue or warm grey alligator leather strap. The aventurine-dial watch is priced at INR 36,60,000 (approx.) and the grey dial watch comes at INR 32,31,000 (approx.)
