We take a look at Omega’s golf legacy

An avid supporter of the game, Omega has been immersed in this luxury sport for quite some time. We trace the legacy of the brand’s connect with the sport.
Swiss watchmaker Omega’s universe encapsulates the worlds of film, social causes, space, and more. And while golf isn’t always top of mind, Omega’s support for the sport has been unwavering. The watch brand’s passion for it is reflected in the OMEGA Master’s tournament which has been held in the fields of Crans-Montana, Switzerland, annually since 1939 (it was earlier called the Swiss Open). Since 2001, the brand has been the title sponsor of the OMEGA Masters. Some of the notable players from the tournament include Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Seve Ballesteros, and Nick Faldo. For the 2023 edition, the tournament will see OMEGA’s brand ambassadors which include Rasmus Hojgaard, Nicolai Hojgaard, Guido Migliozzi, and Sean Crocker, among others. Golf came back as an official sport in the 2016 Rio Olympics and OMEGA was the official timekeeper. The brand will be the official timekeeper for the 2024 Paris Olympics and golf is a part of it.

In India, OMEGA has sponsored golf tournaments for amateurs that include the BMW Cup, which started in the country in 2022, and the Hero Cup which has been resumed this year. The  Hero Women’s Indian Open will be held at the DLF Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon from the 19th to the 22nd of October. The brand also kickstarted the first edition of the OMEGA Trophy in 2022 in the country.
