Maurice Lacroix unveils AIKON Skeleton Urban Tribe ahead of Geneva Watch Days

The brand presents another tribal-urban-inspired watch with a fully engraved design, this time in a skeletonised construction
When Maurice Lacroix released the limited-edition AIKON Urban Tribe in Geneva Watch Days 2021, it did not take too long to be marked as a sold-out model. The case, the bezel and the bracelet were all engraved with tribal architectural motifs inspired by the tall urban buildings. The model also paid ode to the Calypso collection of the brand from the 1980s with its six-arm bezel. Ahead of the Geneva Watch Days 2023 which is all set to kickstart from 29th August to run until 2nd September, Maurice Lacroix has brought back the newest version of the urban-inspired AIKON collection with the AIKON Skeleton Urban Tribe. The novelty retains the aesthetics of the 2021 model with the all-over engravings and the six-arm bezel, but this time with a sapphire dial revealing the parts of the movement, and creating a skeletonised appeal.
“Back in 2021, when we released the AIKON Urban Tribe, the watch attracted much attention and soon sold out. Since then, we’ve received numerous requests for another Urban Tribe watch”, says Stéphane Waser, Managing Director, Maurice Lacroix.

The AIKON Skeleton Urban Tribe is crafted in stainless steel with a 39mm case that houses the open-worked Automatic ML135 movement based on SW200, offering a power reserve of about 38 hours, and is exclusively made by Sellita for the brand’s newest launch. The skeletonised movement allows light to pass through its openings, thereby revealing its parts that are decorated with patterns like circular graining colimaçon, and the sandblasted and sunbrushed oscillating weight. All of this lies beneath the transparent sapphire dial which allows for a clear vision of the movement. Laser engravings, which appear tribal and take cues from the architectural structures in an urban landscape, adorn the watch throughout its exteriors, except on the caseback which is enclosed with a sapphire crystal.

Over the dial, the indexes are applied with lume and the facetted minute and hour hands are filled with Super-LumiNova®. A dark grey flange circumferences the dial. Furthermore, the timepiece also offers water resistance up to 200 metres. Limited to 500 pieces, the watch comes with an integrated bracelet with Easy Strap Exchange System to allow the wearer to change the strap without tools and is priced at approx. ₹3,75,000.
