3 Frederique Constant collections that need to be on your radar

Accessible luxury meets in-house watchmaking prowess in Frederique Constant’s timepieces
Founded in 1988 by Dutch couple Peter Stas and Aletta Stas-Bax, Frederique Constant’s timepieces sit at the intersection of precision and affordability. Including everything from classic, time-only watches to complications like chronograph, moonphase, tourbillon, worldtimer, and perpetual calendars, the Geneva-based Swiss luxury watch brand’s offerings belie its young journey of just under four decades. In this time, Ferderique Constant has developed more than 30 in-house calibres, all assembled in its Manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates.

What sets Frederique Constant apart is how it manages to balance in-house movement development with accessibility. Its Manufacture Classic WorldTimer (Ref. FC-718NWM4H6), priced at Rs 5,28,400, offers a level of craftsmanship and technical advancement that few other watch brands can match at this price point. The same holds true across its lineup of flyback chronographs, perpetual calendars, and big date models, where the brand consistently delivers high-precision timepieces at competitive prices.

Everyone from a beginner to a honed watch collector will find something for themselves in Frederique Constant’s portfolio. Given below are its three core collections—Highlife, Manufacture Classic, and Classics—that you can consider for your watch box.

1. Frederique Constant Highlife

The Highlife collection with a sport-chic appearance was first launched in 1999, then phased out, and eventually resurrected in 2020. Immediately familiar with an integrated bracelet design, its modern variations debuted with the Highlife Heart Beat and Highlife Automatic COSC, retaining the line’s silhouette while highlighting precision timekeeping. Today, the collection, which includes pieces for both men and women, has quartz and mechanical timepieces across chronographs, perpetual calendars, worldtimers, time-only automatics and those with COSC certification. The women’s designs include bejewelled watches as well. If this collection has your attention, here are our suggestions.

a. Highlife Heart Beat Automatic

Highlife Heart Beat Automatic (Ref. FC-310N4NH6B)

The Highlife Heart Beat Automatic (Ref. FC-310N4NH6B) offers a sporty look that’s paired with visual drama. A stainless steel integrated bracelet watch measuring 41 mm, its matte blue dial features an embossed globe pattern with lume coated hands and hour markers. An open heart at 12 instantly catches attention, allowing a look at the FC-310 automatic movement, based on the SW200 calibre; the sapphire crystal caseback also reveals the movement. It boasts a power reserve of about 38 hours.

Price: Rs. 2,52,400

b. Highlife Automatic COSC

(Ref. FC-303N3NH4)

If you want a watch that’s both sporty and technical, then the Highlife Automatic COSC (Ref. FC-303N3NH4), is the one. Boasting a COSC certification, the watch comes in a more versatile case size of 39 mm and features a date window at 3 o’clock. Its blue sunray dial complements its rose gold PVD steel case, and the dial has the same embossed globe pattern with lume coated hands and hour markers. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the automatic COSC-certified movement FC-303, boasting a 38-hour autonomy. A blue leather strap completes the watch.

Price: Rs. 2,86,900

2. Frederique Constant Manufacture Classic

Having debuted in 2004, the Manufacture collection marked the launch of the brand’s first in-house Calibre FC-910. Over the years, the line has expanded into sub-collections that include complications like date, worldtimer, tourbillon, moonphase, and perpetual calendars, all developed, produced and assembled in-house. The line signalled the brand pushing itself towards a range that takes forward its ethos of tradition, innovation, and affordability.

Frederique Constant Manufacture Classic Moonphase Date with British racing green dial
One of the best watches that you can grab from this collection is the Frederique Constant Manufacture Classic Moonphase Date. The 40 mm stainless steel piece features an onion-type crown and the brand’s in-house Calibre FC-716, visible from the sapphire crystal caseback and decorated with Côtes de Genève. The movement has a power reserve of about 72 hours. Featuring a minimalist dial with a moonphase complication and pointer date, there is a railtrack minute marker on the periphery of the dial, wedge-shaped hour markers, and alpha-shaped hands.

You can either pick Ref. FC-716GR3H6, which comes with a British racing green sunburst dial, or Ref. FC-716N3H6, a midnight blue sunburst dial iteration. The watches are paired with matching leather straps.

Prices: Rs. 4,59,400

3. Frederique Constant Classics

Frederique Constant Classics Moneta Moonphase with a black dial

The Classics collection focuses on design and plays with shapes, including the iconic barrel shape, round, and even rectangular. The line is dressier and formal-looking, with an emphasis on details like guilloche dials, colours, Roman hour markers, and everyday complications like date, day, month, and chronograph.

A clean and beautiful moonphase complication at 6 o'clock

Connoisseurs who enjoy aesthetic modern timepieces could opt for the Frederique Constant Classics Moneta Moonphase. The watch instantly catches the eye with its bezel-turned-flange that is reminiscent of a fluted edge of a coin. It's a 37 mm timepiece, which makes it even more versatile for different wrist sizes. The seconds hand has been purposefully omitted on the dial to balance minimalism and contemporary design; there is no minute track either, just hour markers and hands. A clean and beautiful moonphase sits at 6 o’clock.

Frederique Constant Classics Moneta Moonphase with a silver dial

Opt for either the Ref. FC-206S3S5, a silver dial model, or Ref. FC-206B3S5, a black dial iteration, both crafted in steel with yellow gold PVD and both equally elegant. The quartz watches have a black leather strap that flanks the cases.

Prices: Rs. 1,37,400
