Longines celebrates a century of its first dual timezone wristwatch, with the special edition Spirit Zulu Time 1925

Longines’ Spirit Zulu Time 1925 is an homage to its first dual time zone wristwatch, Zulu Time
Celebrating 100 years of Longines’ first ever dual timezone wristwatch, Zulu Time, which displayed both the local time and a second time zone on the same dial, the brand has released a new timepiece, Spirit Zulu Time 1925. The watch joins the Longines Spirit Zulu Time collection of GMTs, first introduced in 2022. The collection began with 42mm timepieces in 2022 and later included compact cases of 39mm in 2023. This special edition is also 39mm.

Encased in stainless steel, this watch features a bidirectional rotating bezel set with a circular-brushed insert capped in 18K rose gold - a first for the collection - offering contrast to the matte black dial. There are rose gold-coloured hands and applied indexes coated with Super-LumiNova® to ensure optimal visibility in all lighting conditions.

The matte black dial is adorned with Zulu Time collection’s signature five stars above the 6 o’clock marker, signifying Longines' highest standard of quality. Just beneath, a date window and the commemorative years ‘1925 – 2025’ are inscribed in a tone-on-tone finish.

Spirit Zulu Time 1925 features a transparent caseback  for the first time

Turning the watch over reveals a transparent caseback showcasing the rose gold-coloured PVD rotor engraved with a planisphere, marked by the Prime Meridian—another first, and an homage to the global spirit of GMT travel. Beating within is the Longines Calibre L844.4, a COSC-certified chronometer movement developed exclusively for the brand. This self-winding mechanical calibre features a silicon balance spring and antimagnetic components. It delivers an impressive 72-hour power reserve.

The Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 comes with both a classic stainless steel bracelet and a military-inspired black NATO strap. It arrives in a special-edition presentation box, underscoring the significance of this centenary piece.

Two choices of straps

The brand will also release two more stainless steel timepieces in this Zulu Time line later this year in 39mm and 42mm case size. These timepieces will also feature a bidirectional rotating bezel but with ceramic insert with a 24-hour scale divided into two shades, matt black and intense polished black, indicating day and night hours.
