Flying High With IWC Big Pilot's Watch

For 2021, IWC Schaffhausen focuses on its popular Big Pilot's collection. Explore the new range of Pilot's watches from IWC below:

For 2021, IWC Schaffhausen launches an array of novelties based on the Big Pilot's collection. Last year, the brand chose to focus their novelties on the Portugeiser introducing a range of Portugeiser timepieces that had undergone a revision or an extension. This time around, IWC focuses on its aviation history with its signature Big Pilot's collection getting its time in the spotlight with a range of new and exciting updates.“The Big Pilot’s Watch perfectly embodies IWC’s extensive heritage and expertise in engineering rugged and reliable instruments tailored to meet the needs of elite aviators. It exemplifies how a purely functional design can transform into a cultural icon. Today, the Big Pilot’s Watch is not only one of the most recognised watch designs in the world but also an expression of a certain character and mindset,” explains Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.

Here are the 2021 novelties:

Big Pilots 43mm Watch:

Like a faithful reinterpretation of the iconic watch, the 2021 Big Pilot's Watch 43 features a 43mm stainless-steel case in either a black or blue dial. The classic case is decorated with a striking conical crown and its easy-to-read cockpit inspired dial is home to functional and legible counters. “With the Big Pilot’s Watch 43, we have returned to the extreme purity of the original observation watch designed more than 80 years ago and created a simple three- hand watch with no other elements on the dial. Despite its reduced size, the 43-millimetre case combines a bold look with great wearing comfort,” says Christian Knoop, IWC’s Creative Director.

The new 43mm models are powered by the IWC-manufactured 82100 calibre with Pellaton winding system and can be viewed via the see-through caseback. The collection is available in three references: Ref. IW329301 (Stainless steel case, black dial, rhodium-plated hands, brown calf leather strap), Ref. IW329303 (Stainless steel case, blue dial, rhodium-plated hands, blue calf leather strap), and Ref. IW329304 (Stainless steel case, blue dial, rhodium-plated hands, stainless steel bracelet). Each of the models are equipped with a user-friendly quick-change system ensuring you are always ready for any adventure that comes your way.

Big Pilot's Perpetual Calendar:

The Perpetual Calendar is a complication that has often taken centre stage of the IWC Big Pilot's collection since its first introduction back in 2006. The new 2021 Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar (Ref. IW503605) marks the return of the popular complication back to the classic collection.

Crafted in a 46mm stainless-steel case with a blue dial and rhodium-plated hands, the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar is elegantly designed. The blue dial houses a date display and power reserve at 3 o' clock, the month display at 6 o' clock and the weekday display and the small seconds are set on a subdial at 9 o’clock. At 12 o' clock one can find the double moon phase display that depicts the different phases of the moon for the Northern and Southern hemispheres that needs adjustment by one day after 577.5 years.

The watch is powered by IWC manufacture movement Calibre 52615 that clocks in a power reserve of 7 days. This movement can be viewed via the see-through caseback. The Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar is available from 7th April 2021 through IWC boutiques, authorised retail partners or online at
